A 36 hour radiothon by radio personalities from New Northwest Broadcasters has brought in more than $115,000 to benefit the Don and Lori Watts Pediatric Center at Kadlec Medical Center.
Big Jim, Rik Mikals, and A.J. from three local stations, broadcast live for 36 hours straight on 94.9 FM The WOLF. The broadcast was from a tent outside the main entrance at Kadlec.
"It was truly a memorable experience for everyone involved," said Larry Christensen, executive director of the Kadlec Foundation. "We had contributions large and small, from the $30,000 match from Don and Lori Watts, to a group of Paterson area farmers who banded together to contribute $25,000, to a little girl from Pendleton who is donating $5 per month for a year. This event surpassed our wildest dreams. We are overwhelmed!"
The proceeds benefit the new Don and Lori Watts Pediatric Center at Kadlec, that will be built in the new River Pavilion. Don and Lori's match gift was in addition to their lead gift in the $7 million fundraising project to build the 20 bed pediatric center. Kadlec hopes to start construction of the new pediatric center by the end of the year.
